If they sound the same then the controller and locking may be ok and the release mechanism has a mechanical problem.Įither way the door card will have to come off and that is a PITA with a door stuck closed - the bench seat will have to come out and be prepared to have to sacrifice the card.

If you don't have easy access to VCDS you could just try locking and unlocking a few times, listen carefully to the lock/unlock actuating on the good door then repeat on the iffy door. You will need to remove the drivers seat to make room to work so the drivers door panel can be removed if you cannot open the door from either the inside or. The door will not open manually from the inside or if you pull up the knob it will not stay up. The key is only for the drivers side but it does not reset the lock. The door unlock button the dash will not unlock it, using the tech pkg 'unlock all doors' will not unlock it. it would definitely be worth checking before you start pulling off the door card. The door lock button will not release (pop up). You're assuming the door is unlocking and the fault is with handle. Anyways, my girlfriend tried to open the passenger door today when the car was locked and I guess she pulled too hard on it or something so when I unlocked it, it didn't open from the outside, only the inside. It's by far the best car I've ever owned. It could be the door controller - it may be the central locking on that door is not actuating. I got it from BMW so it came with the 6 year CPO warranty.

I have had this problem before and it fixed itself. My rear rear door will not open from inside or outside. The repair costs nearly 800, so many will not pay to have it fixed. I agree, the door holding shenanigans could be coincidence. We have a 2004 BMW X5, and the drivers door inside opening mechanism has broken twice once under warranty and once after.
